“Great Taste Never Goes Out of Style”

Cookery for the Many, as well for the Upper Ten Thousand – The Movie

Our Movie is a journey into how much has changed and how much has stayed the same since Australia’s first cookery, home entertaining and dining etiquette book was published in 1864?

This unique film is bring produced in Hunter Valley Wine country. With help from our local winemakers, chefs, historians, and celebrities we compare the food, wine, lifestyles, and entertainment customs of 1800’s ancestors, with those of the kitchens and dining rooms of today.

The Author

The author was the Tasmania illuminati Edward Abbott. Edward was a fascinating large than life character, whom had many occupations, including, member of the Tasmanian parliament, Mayor, Magistrate Post Master General, Wool Baron, Sheep and Produce Farmer. The only he wasn’t, was a chef, but he did give himself the self-appointed title, of “An Australian Aristologist” Edward was interested in everything, ready for anything, afraid of nothing,

The Producer

In 1987 Neal Crisford wrote, directed, and produced Australia’s first full-length video on wine appreciation. His very first interview was with Brian McGuigan. Three hundred wine and food interviews, numerous programs and thirty years later, Neal wrote, directed, edited and produced” Life of Brian Wine, Passion, Sunshine and 57 Years of Compost”, chronicling the heritage, and life’s work of Wine Baron Brian McGuigan and family. Using historical footage and interviews shot over the thirty years, including exacts from the original interview. This set the scene for the production of “Cookery for the Many”.

We wish increase the awareness of the history of our Wine Country, highlighting the food and wine culture of the Hunter Valley, and how important the role Hunter Wine Country has played in the development of Australia’s great, wine and food history.

To achieve this we are making a film to bring to life this interesting, fascinating, and entertaining true adventure that beckons to be told.

So with your help together with God, Bob and our “wine time keg” we are going back into the past, to explore, dress, hunt, gather, grow, prepare, cook, travel, eat, drink, and dine like it’s 1864, and we are going to use Cookery for the Many, as Well as for the Upper Ten Thousand” as our bible.
